Isaiah 61
I 1-7 The Spirit of God, the Master, is on me because God anointed me.
He sent me to preach good news to the poor,
heal the heartbroken,
Announce freedom to all captives,
pardon all prisoners.
God sent me to announce the year of his grace—
a celebration of God's destruction of our enemies—
and to comfort all who mourn,
To care for the needs of all who mourn in Zion,
give them bouquets of roses instead of ashes,
Messages of joy instead of news of doom,
a praising heart instead of a languid spirit.
Rename them "Oaks of Righteousness"
planted by God to display his glory.
They'll rebuild the old ruins,
raise a new city out of the wreckage.
They'll start over on the ruined cities,
take the rubble left behind and make it new.
You'll hire outsiders to herd your flocks
and foreigners to work your fields,
But you'll have the title "Priests of God,"
honored as ministers of our God.
You'll feast on the bounty of nations,
you'll bask in their glory.
Because you got a double dose of trouble
and more than your share of contempt,
Your inheritance in the land will be doubled
and your joy go on forever.
I think if you have long enough to surf the net. You have plenty of time to do something about the following. Again Jesus is looking for followers not talkers. He is looking for doers not talkers. So write a letter/email to David Cunliffe Minister of Immigration dcunliffe@ministers.govt.nz or if you are a committed pray-er pray about it. Where are all the Christians? Is this just not as sexy as Ahmed Zaoui???
'Amir Mohebbi, is the longest serving remand prisoner in the history of New Zealand. He has been detained in Mt Eden for close to four years now. Amir has a New Zealand wife, Maryam, and three kiwi children and his only crime is that he refuses to put his and his family's life in danger by signing documents agreeing to be deported to Iran.
His children are Monica (7), Milad (5) and Merila (3). Littlest Merila has never known a father who is not in jail. These kids just can't understand and neither can we.
Immigration Minister David Cunliffe wants to deport Amir and deprive these kiwi children of their father.
All these Iranians fear for their lives if they are deported to Iran - some for political and others for religious reasons. At least one is a Christian convert who rightly fears for his life in Iran. Groups such as Amnesty International agree that people in this situation should be given temporary visas until it is safe for them to return to Iran. Labour refuses to consider this.
Others in this group are in fear of their lives for political reasons relating to their opposition to the Islamic policies of the Iranian government.
These are real people with real New Zealand lives.
Ali Reza Pahan's employer Bruce, strongly supports Ali's desire to remain in New Zealand. "He is a good man and a very good worker".
Fardien Nouriyan has a wife Leila and step-daugher Sahel (15). He has been in New Zealand for 9 years, married for 8 years and in prison for 16 months now. Cunliffe wants to deport Fardien.
Thomas Yadegary was in a similar situation but was released on bail three months ago after a public campaign. However the government is appealing against his release to the Appeal Court.'
